My mom wanted a wrap for her shoulders & since I did not have any knitting needles with me, I borrowed crochet hooks from my sister. Used whatever leftover yarn she had to come up with this concoction. I found a pattern on the internet- I think it was called "wheelchair wrap" or something to that effect. I prefer to knit because the stitches are more closely woven and has greater elasticity.

Finished armhole edging with ribbing which gives it more flexibility. This is knitted from bottom up then splitting at the armhole to finish the backs and the 2 front sides.
I always have trouble with the buttonholes. They seem to get stretched with use and should be made a tat smaller than originally planned.

- I made this “Bow-Tie” wrap for my mom from some left over yarn. I prefer to use finer yarn. This is made out of worsted yarn which tend to be a little heavier and more coarse. I made another wrap out of much smaller yarn & that came out much softer and more elegant.

Jerry’s new chemo cap fits him perfectly. Here he is, with Regina, playing with their grandson at the OVCC Easter Luncheon. The hat was knit by Jenny using the A Family Affair pattern from Knit One Below. Her adaptation using two solid color yarns created an intriguing yet manly design for an Easter cap!

Here I am with Jenny. Happy Easter everyone!

Knit One Below Hat
It took me awhile to figure how this “Knit One Below” technique works. I had to rip this hat out 3 times before I got the hang of it. I am not like PWW, who is an expert & can whip out a project in no time. I never follow the pattern exactly because my gauge is always different from what was stated in the pattern and I did not use five colors of yarn. I hope it fits.

I made this hat for a relative who is going thru chemo for breast cancer using the tweed stitch.
Pattern: multiple of 4 (using a circular needle) I knit tight so I CO 88 sts with a size 9 needle. I did a ribbing for about 1 1/2″ then continue with the following:

Tweed Stitch Hat
Round 1: *K1, yfwd,sl 1 purlwise, ybk; repeat from * to end of rd. Round 2: Knit [if using straight needle, purl this row] Round 3: *Yfwd, sl 1 purlwise, ybk, k1; repeat from * to end of rd. Round 4: Knit [purl if using straight needles]
Repeat these four rounds til desired length (about 5-6″). Decrease on the knit rd, work even the next round. Continue to decrease til there are 8 or 10 stitches left, cut yarn & pull thru remaining sts to secure tightly.

After several attempts of trying to knit a pair of socks, I finally got somewhere using a very basic pattern. I did not make the leg part very long because I did not think I had enough yarn. Good thing. I did not have enough yarn to make the leg 7″, instead I only made that part about 2″. Isn’t this cool! Of course, this is nothing compared to the more elaborate socks that PWW made. But this is a start.
