Pom Pom Booties

Posted in baby stuff, booties at 8:36 pm by pwhawk

These booties are so easy to make and they are so cute. These were made w/ size 5 needles, lavender Lion Brand Babysoft yarn, and Bernat Softee Baby yarn. The design is similar to the ones my mother-in-law made for my babies. They never fell off because of the tie that goes around the ankle! Posted by Picasa

Cure for Sock Withdrawal

Posted in socks at 3:29 pm by pwhawk

I started going through sock withdrawal after I completed “Glad Raggs” the other day. Fortunately, I’m starting to accumulate a small sock yarn stash now so I was able to start “Making Waves” yesterday.

Yarn: Knit Picks Essentials
Needles: Addi Turbos 2.5 mm (US#1)

I finished my Glad Raggs yesterday!
The fit is really good.

I also used the matching reinforcing thread that came with Lang Jawoll sock yarn. The one tube of Miyuki Beads from Auntie’s Beads was enough to make the small size sock. The lace pattern was very easy to follow.

Materials:
Lang Jawoll Beige Marl Superwash Sock Yarn
Miyuki Size 8 Seed Beads
Size #2 and #1 Addi Turbo Circular Needles
Started on March 7 ,2006
Finiished March 24, 2006

“Claude” Square Beret

Posted in hats at 8:22 pm by pwhawk

This hat is a square beret that evolved from my attempt to knit a regular round beret. But since my increases were in 4 equally spaced locations around the hat, corners started appearing.

That was last November, just before my massive sock knitting binge. The project remained untouched for months in a zip-lock bag.

Yesterday I took it out again and decided I liked the idea of having a square beret so I kept the corners and finished off the hat.

The firest 2 pictures in the collage show the top and the bottom of the hat before the blocking. I wet the hat down in warm water, blotted it dry, and stretched it over the the lid of my Corningware casserole.

By the next morning it was completely dry and Katie tried it on at the front door, with Claude Monet’s print behind her.

Yarn: Lion Brand Woolese
Color: Forest
Needles: Size 8 circulars and double points
Cast on 80 stitches.

These are my Six Sox Knitalong socks for Feb-Mar 2006. The yarn is Lang Jawoll Superwash Marl Yarn. The beads are Miyuki #8.

Here is my circular gauge, made w/ #0,#1, #2 Addi Turbos.

This is how I threaded the beads onto the yarn.

Progress: I have most of the leg done on the #2 addis (top)
On my #1 Addi Turbos I have finished the heel and worked several rows of the gusset. Posted by Picasa

The lower-left square is from Pauline H. The one above it is mine. The rest of them are Elaine’s. Jenny has the last two.
