Mohair Beret

Posted in hats at 2:09 pm by pauline

After work one evening last November, I went to Purlescence with my grand opening coupon and came home with this luscious hank of Blue Moon Kidmo, in the Carbon Dating colorway:

I flipped through my patterns found the perfect beret pattern in the winter 2006 Interweave Knits. After a little bit of playing and swatching, I casted it on my #9 clover circulars.

It was soft and fuzzy and fun to work with. But I soon got distracted by other projects and it joined the ranks of the UFOs.

Last week I took it out, finished it. I was able to get on my freakishly large head so it would probably fit a normal head just fine. It’s now in its new home in Tacoma with Joan… One less UFO!!!YAY!!!

Vanalinn Gloves

Posted in mittens and gloves, yarn at 12:57 pm by pauline

Those last few weeks of “cold” California winter (yes, I know we are wimps as far as winters go) have motivated me to knit gloves.

I’m using the Rowan Tapestry (30% soy & 70% wool) that I bought at Purlescence Yarns. It’s amazingly soft and the fibers are really long and strong.

The pattern is from A Gathering of Lace.

I’ve finished the pinkie and am working on the ring finger right now.

Fiber Fiend Ambrosia Sock

Introducing… Fiber Fiend’s Ambrosia Sock Yarn!! tada!!! The yarn is really soft and nice to work with. I really love the vibrant colors that Margit used. They remind me of wine and berries. I can hardly wait to wear them, once I finish the mate.
